      <title>PagerDuty Giving Back to the Community: Helping Unhoused Families Find Dignity with Hygiene Kits</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;In October, more than 20 Dutonians came together in San Francisco to assemble 50+ hygiene kits for &lt;a href="https://www.compass-sf.org/"&gt;Compass Family Services&lt;/a&gt;. Families in San Francisco have been particularly impacted by COVID-19 and other economic changes in the area over the last few years, necessitating organizations like&amp;nbsp;Compass Family Services to help those &amp;ldquo;who are at risk to become stably housed, emotionally and physically healthy, and economically self-sufficient.&amp;rdquo; Providing hygiene kits to homeless families provides a person with dignity. More than 150 kits have been donated by Bay Area Dutonians in 2022, supported by volunteer donations as team members live the company values #Ack&amp;amp;Own and #RunTogether.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Using company awards and donating funds, Dutonians rallied together to raise $500+ for one of the first in-person San Francisco volunteering opportunities since returning to the office in 2021. We successfully campaigned, bought, and assembled the following kits this quarter: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, socks, masks, washcloth, toothbrush, and toothpaste.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We aim to keep this volunteer opportunity going for the rest of FY23 in the San Francisco office. This will allow us to donate kits in the future for other local populations.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Stats for the campaign thus far:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Assembled 50+ hygiene kits this quarter&lt;br&gt;450+ items were used to assemble the kits this quarter; Overall we utilized 1,350 items to make a total of 150 kits in 2022&lt;br&gt;Donations: $500+&lt;br&gt;In-person volunteers: 20+&lt;br&gt;Volunteer hours: 40+&lt;br&gt;Special thanks to all of our SF volunteers and Dutonians who made a financial donation to this volunteer opportunity. A big thanks to Kandace Bona and the crew who organized a party with treats.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>IDE &amp; Social Impact – Our ERGs Give Back to the Community</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Dutonians are known for their relentless pursuit of positive impact, in both their work and personal life, and our ATL crew consistently goes above and beyond to model this attribute.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As we approached the end of summer, back-to-school shopping became top of mind for most Dutonians. It&amp;rsquo;s a time of excitement for the school year ahead, but for some, it comes with feelings of anxiety, worry, and disappointment due to budget limitations.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;One of our core values is to Ack &amp;amp; Own, when you see opportunities you make it yours and you make it right. I saw an opportunity to Ack &amp;amp; Own while giving back to my community and facilitated a fundraising campaign in partnership with our Employee Resource Group, Array:Black.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Over the course of a month, we set up a donation campaign and Amazon Wishlist to collect supplies for Kipp Soul Primary School. Our goal was to obtain funding and donations to supply 40 backpacks worth of school supplies for the year. The campaign would culminate in an in-person backpack assembly at our ATL office.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The results were astounding. Not only did we meet our goal of 40 backpacks, we exceeded it! &amp;nbsp;This included purchasing ancillary teacher supplies, which reduced the financial burden that is often passed to teachers to ensure their classrooms have adequate supplies for their students.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Illuminating the Asian and Pacific Islander Community at PagerDuty</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;In March 2021, a group of Asian-identifying PagerDuty employees (&amp;ldquo;Dutonians&amp;rdquo;) and I gathered to discuss the rise of Asian hate crimes observed globally as well as a racially-motivated fatal shooting in Atlanta. Little did we know that a year later, these conversations would lead to a vibrant virtual space for the Asian/Pacific Islander community to connect, share resources, and begin healing as a collective.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This May&amp;rsquo;s Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (APHM) celebrations in the United States and Canada also marked the one-year anniversary of Illuminate, the official name of PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s Employee Resource Group (ERG) for Asian and Pacific Islander employees. Why &amp;ldquo;Illuminate?&amp;rdquo; We came up with several acronyms and generic names, but none of them felt right. However, we kept coming back to one theme: feeling invisible.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Within the broader &amp;ldquo;Asian and Pacific Islander&amp;rdquo; community, there are scores of different voices, but they are not all equally heard. &amp;ldquo;Illuminate&amp;rdquo; represents the need to provide a space for and shine a light on everyone in our community and the variety of unique experiences they have to share.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reflecting on Illuminate&amp;rsquo;s first year&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Illuminate&amp;rsquo;s mission is to support and empower Asian and Pacific Islander employees by creating a safe and inclusive space for the A/PI community and by promoting cultural and social awareness at PagerDuty. There are now more than 70 Dutonians in our community, and membership continues to grow.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ERG has evolved into something greater and so much more meaningful than what I originally envisioned. We&amp;rsquo;ve developed our community and engaged with the broader company in several different ways:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Bi-Monthly Internal Meetings:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; We share time and space with each other, celebrating cultural holidays &amp;nbsp;and calling out member&amp;rsquo;s wins (promotions, work anniversaries, and awards) while also providing space for reflection and an opportunity to lean on this unique group. Through these gatherings, we connect with people we would otherwise not come across in our day-to-day lives at work, which has become increasingly important in this remote-first environment.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Food Story Collection:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; In celebration of A/PI Heritage Month 2021, we gathered stories from A/PI Dutonians to showcase our diverse culture and heritage through our universal love language &amp;mdash; food.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Connect on Slack:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; In our private ERG channel, community members connect with each other via shared experiences, which drives a greater sense of belonging.&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;img src="https://s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/rec-marketing-usea1-uploads/public/uploads/bee86cd81f3da1eedfd3bc0a83413951/images/files/9f97cca830450116f0e0e6f179b6e43d/medium/illuminate.png?1671029844" alt="illuminate.png" width="600" height="376"&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;How we celebrated APHM 2022&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This year&amp;rsquo;s Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month was our first large-scale programming initiative, engaging the company and our own community through various events:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;A/PI Trivia Extravaganza:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; Illuminate hosted a virtual trivia game where teams competed in challenges and learned about various Asian food, culture, and traditions. Among the many fun facts shared during the event was that a staggering 60% of the world&amp;rsquo;s population lives in Asia. The winners received $2,000 to donate to two non-profit organizations focused on supporting their local Asian communities.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Voices of Asian/Pacific Islander Playlist: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;We curated a music playlist that celebrates the multitude of genre-spanning artists that come from our community.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Real-Time Social Impact: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;We partnered with San Francisco&amp;rsquo;s Chinatown YMCA for a volunteer event at its Food Pantry. Volunteers helped move food and pack bags for 240 households in the local Chinatown community.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Weekly Spotlight on A/PI Dutonians: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;In the spirit of lifting up stories from our community, Illuminate borrowed a page from other PagerDuty ERGs and highlighted different members of the group to company-wide channels and social media platforms.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Highlighting A/PI Dutonians Panel: &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;To cap off the month, Illuminate put together a virtual event where panelists shared their diverse perspectives around how their cultural identities shaped their childhood and who they are today, how they&amp;rsquo;ve been impacted by racial stereotypes, and how they have been able to grow with their multicultural identities as East Asian and South Asian Americans/Canadians.&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;img src="https://s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/rec-marketing-usea1-uploads/public/uploads/bee86cd81f3da1eedfd3bc0a83413951/images/files/26a9bdc4987ea80dd6dd88020d567b8b/medium/illuminate2.png?1671029844" alt="illuminate2.png" width="600" height="502"&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Illuminating The Way Forward&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I am beyond proud of what we accomplished in the last year and how far we have come from our humble beginnings. I also want to recognize how much work we still have ahead of us.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Illuminate is only one of six ERGs at PagerDuty, and there is an abundance of opportunity to do important intersectional work across our different underrepresented groups. And while APHM was our first major initiative as an official ERG, it will not be our last! We will continue to organize and develop programs that will positively impact our community. Our journey has only just begun.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On a personal note, I am grateful for the chance that Illuminate gave me and my peers to uplift a part of our identities at work that we may not have had the space to do before. Moving forward, I hope for more community care and an increasing sense of inclusion and belonging.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Our Black and Latinx ERG, Array, offers a mentorship program pairing individual contributors within Array to C-Suite and VP level mentors, including PagerDuty CEO Jennifer Tejada. Dedicated to leveling the playing field for Black and Latinx employees, the program is structured so everyone can learn from each other. Mentees are paired with mentors from within or outside their department for a nine-month term, which includes check-ins, themed discussions, and monthly one-on-ones. Bri Solorzano, an Array mentee, explained that this mentorship program allows her to build bonds with higher level executives, and share her personal experiences as a Latinx employee and individual contributor at PagerDuty.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PagerDuty Hosts an Internal Company Panel to Celebrate Black History Month&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;This year our ERG, Array, will be honoring Black History Month with the theme, &amp;ldquo;Rooted in the World: Our Heritage, Our Story&amp;rdquo;. We will host company-wide events throughout the month, in addition to programming exclusive to the Array community. All employees are invited to learn from professor and curator of Black history, Dr. Jamille Harrell-Sims and participate in a fun trivia activity. Additionally, Array members are invited to an internal employee panel to hear their personal stories. In alignment with Array&amp;rsquo;s mission, to cultivate and celebrate a diverse and inclusive global environment at PagerDuty, this programming aims to show the importance and influence of Black history.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PagerDuty Attends a Concert Featuring Women and Non-Binary Artists to Celebrate Women&amp;rsquo;s History Month&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;In honor of Women's History Month, our employee resource group, SisterDuty, in collaboration with PagerDuty.org, will be hosting various events in celebration. Externally, through a career panel and mentorship event with Quantius Education Foundation, Dutonians will share their personal experiences and inspire Canadian-based students from diverse backgrounds to launch their careers in STEM. Internally, we will discuss gender and internal bias through internal panels, we will learn about the diverse experiences of our colleagues through employee spotlights, and we will enjoy a Sofar Sounds Concert featuring women and non binary artists. SisterDuty creates a safe space for women, non-binary folks, agender, and genderqueer employees at PagerDuty.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;PagerDuty Allows Employees to Choose Where They Work During Ramadan and Beyond&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;At PagerDuty, we offer a flexible work model that allows employees to choose where they want to work - hybrid, office, or anywhere. This provides space for employees to observe cultural and religious practices in an atmosphere that is comfortable to them. Those working in the office are offered a supportive and inclusive workplace, allowing for private areas to have a moment of pause. We have prayer rooms in our Atlanta, San Francisco, and Toronto offices, as well as prayer mat storage. Additionally we offer generous paid time off and a floating holiday that can be taken to observe/celebrate holidays for various religions.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s Neha Wadhwa credits her parents for her career in technology and software development.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;I wouldn&amp;rsquo;t say getting into software development or the tech industry was a childhood dream,&amp;rdquo; she admits. &amp;ldquo;I think this field chose me because of my initial exposure.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the late nineties, a time when women in tech weren&amp;rsquo;t common, Neha&amp;rsquo;s parents encouraged her to take computer classes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;We got to play around with language C,&amp;rdquo; she recalls. &amp;ldquo;It was a lot of fun using logic, drawing triangles in C language, and solving problems. From that point, I knew that I wanted to pursue my bachelor's in computer science and a career in technology and software development.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Fast forward to present day, it&amp;rsquo;s only natural that Neha now works at PagerDuty, a mission-driven tech company. We sat down with her to learn more about her career at PagerDuty, how she&amp;rsquo;s grown professionally through opportunities at the company, and tips for making the most of your company&amp;rsquo;s professional resources.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h4&gt;Leading a Team with Purpose&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;Neha has been an Engineering Manager at PagerDuty for almost three years now.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;I'm responsible for the successful execution and delivery of various innovative features that we are building,&amp;rdquo; she explains. &amp;ldquo;I think innovation is the key as we move towards Operation Cloud.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to her daily tasks, Neha puts much focus on managing her team.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;I care deeply about the team, our mission, our culture, and the milestones that we are going to be working on together,&amp;rdquo; she shares. &amp;ldquo;I love building high-performing teams that are engaged and committed to the overall cause. As a manager, I love to empower and enable people and give them the autonomy to make their own decisions.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Neha also highlights that 50% of her team are women and how curating a diverse team has led to the team&amp;rsquo;s overall success.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;On my team, I've made sure that equal opportunity is given to underrepresented groups,&amp;rdquo; she explains. &amp;ldquo;I feel that has made a huge difference towards the overall success of what we do and how.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The thoughtfulness behind her team development is backed by a company that puts its employees first.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h4&gt;Growing at a People First Company&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Neha appreciates many different aspects of working at PagerDuty, the main one being that employee care is a top priority. &amp;ldquo;That is the foundation of the overall culture at PagerDuty,&amp;rdquo; she shares.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One of PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s methods is People First, which in essence brings together the needs of its customers as well as its employees in order to produce innovative products and solutions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Every Dutonian is encouraged to bring their most authentic self to work. She explains, &amp;ldquo;There is space for everyone here and, there are necessary levers in place to help empower every person while at the same time helping to amplify their voice.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The attention and focus PagerDuty gives to their employees is also reflected in the work they do with their customers.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;I&amp;rsquo;ve learned so much about our customers,&amp;rdquo; Neha says. &amp;ldquo;PagerDuty is a customer-devoted company. It's not just about building a new feature from an engineering perspective. It&amp;rsquo;s about looking through the lens of the customer, understanding what's important for them, identifying their pain points, and then building features that help alleviate those pain points.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h4&gt;Utilizing Resources&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;PagerDuty recognizes that its employees are at the heart of its innovation which is why the company not only takes care of its people but also invests in them. Neha points out the various resources provided to help managers and individuals learn valuable new skills in order to advance and grow in their roles.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;We have a comprehensive leadership program to complement our management training so that managers and leaders can be successful in their roles,&amp;rdquo; she shares. &amp;ldquo;The PagerDuty Product Development team provides a training budget, which gives you the opportunity to take courses, work with a professional coach, or attend conferences to improve your skills, whether they're technical or soft skills. Additionally, there is also a lot of peer support available.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This peer support has been invaluable to Neha&amp;rsquo;s experience. She explains, &amp;ldquo;I reach out to my peer managers for suggestions or feedback to get a different perspective, and this helps me see things through the lens of another person.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to these resources, there are also mentorship circles to help employees advance. &amp;ldquo;It's up to the individual on what they want to explore, figure out what works for them, their areas of interest, and then take the initiative to create a path forward.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h4&gt;Advice to Help You Grow at Your Company&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Many companies offer career-advancing resources, but the key is taking advantage of those opportunities.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;It's all about being proactive and taking the initiative,&amp;rdquo; Neha explains. &amp;ldquo;But at the same time, it&amp;rsquo;s important, to be honest with yourself about work-life balance especially if you&amp;rsquo;re feeling burnt out, you don't want to take on everything just because you want to grow.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Neha offers the following advice to make the most of your company's resources:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Define your own path. &amp;ldquo;Explore what works for you, what keeps you engaged, and figure out what's motivating you,&amp;rdquo; Neha advises. Once you identify your calling you can find the right resources specifically geared toward your interests.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Reach out to managers and mentors. By connecting with your peers, managers, and mentors about your goals and interests, you create a support system to help you grow and succeed.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Don&amp;rsquo;t try to do it all. With the availability of professional development resources, it can be tempting to want to take advantage of everything. &amp;ldquo;However, the best thing you can do is to focus on the things that genuinely apply to your goals and aspirations, and then take action. This will be a more scalable and sustainable path towards growth.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It's celebrated over two calendar months with good reason: it covers the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, as well as key celebrations in Hispanic and Latin communities. Apart from commemorating major holidays and historic milestones, this month honors the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We asked [PagerDuty] what they're doing to honor and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at work this year, and how they're supporting Hispanic and Latinx communities all year round. Here's what they're doing, in their own words:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s Latine ERG, Dutonienses, hosts our annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration for all to enjoy! Having recently added a location in Santiago, we're excited to celebrate Chile Independence Day in September. We'll learn about Chilean culture and heritage, dance the cueca (typical Chilean dance) and eat empanadas de pino and empanadas de queso (traditional food for the holiday). Throughout the month, we also plan to have a virtual happy hour, an internal panel, a volunteer event, and a coffee hour to spotlight some great coffees from different Hispanic countries. These activities will allow Dutonienses to meet colleagues connected by their shared roots, and help foster a diverse and inclusive workplace beyond!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Psychologist and author Rollo May once stated, &amp;ldquo;In order to be open to creativity, one must have the capacity for constructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For introverts, reaching equilibrium between socialization and solace, internal contemplation and outward expression, and exertion and rejuvenation is a primarily personal feat.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Still, those who have ever dreaded attending a party or gathering but were persuaded by a friend and ended up having a great time can attest to the value of a polite nudge in the right direction.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In remote work environments, managers must gain an understanding of each of their team members&amp;rsquo; social preferences and inclinations and know when nudges and intentional interactions are ultimately beneficial. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Although it may seem counterintuitive, studies have shown that most introverts actually prefer face time in the office. A 2022 Myers-Briggs survey found that 82% of extroverted respondents favored a hybrid work model, while 74% of introverts wanted to be in the office at least part-time.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Knowing when to push oneself outside of one&amp;rsquo;s home or mind is a matter of introspection and the result of cumulative experiences &amp;mdash; the good, the bad and everything in between. In this vein, an introvert&amp;rsquo;s desire for collaboration and participation isn&amp;rsquo;t as surprising as some might assume.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;At PagerDuty, people leaders have adopted formal strategies to engage with employees who might be introverts but blossom into active contributors when given the opportunity and encouragement.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h4&gt;What is the remote culture like at PagerDuty? How do you make sure to engage more introverted team members?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;"I&amp;rsquo;m a global workplace experience team member, and our remote work culture has evolved significantly due to the pandemic. We&amp;rsquo;ve adapted to the challenges of distance by introducing syncs, which have become a hallmark of our team&amp;rsquo;s culture. These syncs occur weekly, bringing together team members in similar time zones for casual, non-work discussions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We explore various topics in these gatherings, from the latest movies, books and podcasts to weekend plans and personal updates about our families and pets. What sets these syncs apart is their attendance-optional nature, which ensures team members can join when it suits their schedules without any pressure.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One memorable moment from our syncs was the creation of our very own &amp;ldquo;Animal Show.&amp;rdquo; One of our colleagues, a walking encyclopedia of animal facts, took on the role of the main commentator. With a few team members contributing dramatic reactions, we produced entertaining videos about various animal topics. These videos were shared on our company&amp;rsquo;s Vibe channel, providing a fun break during the workday.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As for me, this year has been dedicated to planning my wedding, and the syncs have been a platform for me to share this journey&amp;rsquo;s excitement and occasional frustrations. I&amp;rsquo;ve received invaluable advice, ranging from overcoming my fear of public speaking for a wedding toast &amp;mdash; thanks to my team&amp;rsquo;s encouragement &amp;mdash; to diplomatically managing unexpected guest list expansions by well-meaning in-laws.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;These watercooler moments, even in a virtual setting, allow us to connect on a personal level, fostering the same camaraderie we would enjoy in an office. It&amp;rsquo;s reassuring to know that beyond collaborating on work tasks, I can turn to my team, whether it&amp;rsquo;s our senior director or a fellow specialist in Sydney, for both professional and life advice. Our remote culture has sustained our team&amp;rsquo;s productivity and enriched our connections as colleagues and friends."&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h4&gt;What tools are there for introverted employees to connect with colleagues meaningfully?&lt;/h4&gt;
&lt;p&gt;"In our organization, we leverage a variety of tools to facilitate meaningful connections among employees. A central platform for communication is Slack, which not only serves as a primary channel for work-related discussions but also adds an element of fun through memes and emoji reactions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We&amp;rsquo;ve created local channels within Slack to keep everyone informed about work-related and personal upcoming events. These channels range from company-led virtual volunteer opportunities to good-natured banter between Warriors and Lakers fans, showcasing the friendly rivalry.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Our Slack channels have become micro-communities within our larger organization. For instance, I&amp;rsquo;m part of our company&amp;rsquo;s Asian American Pacific Islander employee resource group, called Illuminate. Our channel provides a space for like-minded employees to connect, share posts and participate in events centered around relatable topics. From live virtual lumpia-making sessions to tutorials on paper crane origami, these gatherings foster a sense of belonging.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Beyond work-related channels, we have various non-work channels that cater to diverse interests. The #parent_duty channel is where parents share adorable and humorous photos of their children, offering relatable anecdotes that bring a knowing smile to fellow parents&amp;rsquo; faces. The #dogs channel is dedicated to heartwarming and entertaining moments with our canine companions, allowing us to share our dogs&amp;rsquo; quirks. Additionally, there&amp;rsquo;s an #art_space channel where employees can showcase their artistic talents in various forms. These channels enable me to stay connected with my colleagues, discover shared interests and provide excellent conversation starters for virtual and in-person interactions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We also incorporate social activities into our team meetings to enhance team bonding. &lt;p&gt;Leadership plays a pivotal role in creating an inclusive environment. Encouragement from team directors and managers to participate in company-wide activities is essential. For instance, our September Step challenge allows employees to form teams and compete while raising funds for nonprofit organizations. Additionally, leaders provide opportunities for participation in employee resource groups (ERGs) and in-person team events.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;ERGs contribute significantly to a sense of belonging. They conduct regular meetings to discuss pertinent topics like representation in media and incorporate engaging activities like trivia games. Furthermore, people team town halls kick off with icebreakers, facilitating interactions among employees across the organization.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One particularly exciting initiative is our PagerDuty Pop-Ups program. This project, led by my core team, organizes live, in-person events in various global locations with a substantial number of attendees. These events feature a diverse agenda, including executive fireside chats, AMA sessions and workshops on themes like building connections. Social activities such as boat cruises and museum tours are coordinated, fostering interactions among employees who may not have otherwise met.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here are a few tips to help you validate whether or not you are involved in a legitimate PagerDuty interview process:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;The first and most important piece of information that you should investigate is the email address of the person who contacted you. Our Talent Acquisition team communicates solely through @pagerduty.com email addresses. Carefully inspect the email address for misspellings or any differences. Any variance of this domain is not a real PagerDuty employee. If you are unsure, instead of responding to an email, create a new email and hand-type (do not cut and paste) the email address in question.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;We take pride in being PagerDuty (or PagerDuty, Inc). Any variance from this naming convention should raise red flags. Even if the sender correctly uses our company name and branding, refer back to the email address domain. If it is not @pagerduty.com, then it is not legitimate.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;We do not initiate hiring processes through SMS or text messages.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;We will never request sensitive personal information through email.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;li&gt;The scammer discovers the victim's resume on a job board like Indeed or CareerBuilder.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Impersonating HR at PagerDuty, the scammer reaches out with a fictitious job offer.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Fake text-based or online interviews are set up by the scammer.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The scammer sends an offer letter and a counterfeit check to the victim for equipment purchase through a fabricated vendor.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Upon depositing the counterfeit check, the victim realizes the funds do not clear. The scammer pressures the victim to use personal funds to expedite the equipment purchase.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Believing they are purchasing equipment, the victim unwittingly transfers their own money directly to the scammer.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The scammer then vanishes, leaving the victim in financial distress.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Artificial intelligence seems to be at the forefront of almost every tech news story. Machine learning, large language models and generative AI have gone from technical domain-specific terms to part of general conversation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Those headlines leave PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s Vice President of Platform Advocacy Dormain Drewitz with a question: How do these tools help PagerDuty better understand and deliver on customer needs?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;With the press and glitz and glamor, there is this futuristic view of AI and automation, but we have to think about how we really integrate those tools in our work,&amp;rdquo; she said. &amp;ldquo;As we talked with customers and explained what we&amp;rsquo;re working on, it became clear that we need to help people gain trust in AI and automation and what those tools can achieve.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Trust is also something PagerDuty builds in-house. According to DevOps Advocate Mandi Walls, a member of Drewitz&amp;rsquo; team, the culture at PagerDuty centers around transparency, which she has not found at other companies. &amp;ldquo;PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s dedication to communication alleviates a lot of the stresses that people can have in the workplace,&amp;rdquo; Walls noted.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To help build client trust in its technology, Drewitz explained that PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s AI and automation tools have been trained on a decade&amp;rsquo;s worth of data, allowing products to add immediate value, clearing through system noise and finding disruption patterns.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;When customers see benefits quickly in places where the tool is already proven and tested, the mindset around AI begins to change,&amp;rdquo; she explained. &amp;ldquo;We take small steps and build up that trust as we build a center of excellence and then step back and look for more that we can integrate into this automation practice.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Drewitz also emphasized that the product helps build trust by keeping humans in the loop.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;The generative AI capabilities are drafting things, not going straight to publish, so a human has the opportunity to review and tweak without having to start from a blank page for tasks like writing an incident post-mortem or a status update in the midst of an incident,&amp;rdquo; she said. &amp;ldquo;People are being augmented, not being replaced. All these manual tasks eat away at time and productivity, and we can restructure processes to better utilize people&amp;rsquo;s skills and abilities.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h3&gt;Enabling Advancement by Listening to Clients&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Powering adoption of these tools for PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s clients is AIOps Sales Director Eiad Abunimeh.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In his role, Abunimeh takes on three focus areas: learning as much as he can from customers, enabling the sales team to understand the challenges customers are facing and how PagerDuty can help resolve those challenges, and working closely with PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s product team to serve as a liaison between the sales and product teams.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Translating between sales and product is one of the most valuable things I&amp;rsquo;m doing right now,&amp;rdquo; Abunimeh said. &amp;ldquo;By connecting with both customers and product, we are able to get perspective on the market and communicate what is different about our product. Because PagerDuty has a distributed aspect to the product, customers are able to adopt and scale use more easily, and we want to help our sales team share that message.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Even as he leads the efforts to help customers expand their understanding and usage of PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s AI tools, Abunimeh isn&amp;rsquo;t in it alone &amp;mdash; true to PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s &amp;ldquo;Run Together&amp;rdquo; value, a team of &amp;ldquo;field champions&amp;rdquo; spend time testing messaging, collecting customer feedback and bringing insights back to the team to help tweak the product and approach.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Getting things right is a never-ending cycle, and our team is supportive and creative, which is a huge asset we get to leverage,&amp;rdquo; Abunimeh said.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to Abunimeh&amp;rsquo;s field champions, PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s product managers also spend time working with customers to understand how the product can solve more problems and deepen usage. For Drewitz, customer advisory boards are an especially useful tool, both for the product team and for the customers involved.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;By bringing customers together in a group, they can hear from each other, which sparks ideas about how they can use our products,&amp;rdquo; she said. &amp;ldquo;And for the product team, we are able to see what bubbles up as shared priorities, rather than the single point-of-view offered in individual deep-dive conversations.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It&amp;rsquo;s no surprise that &amp;ldquo;Champion the Customer&amp;rdquo; is a core value at PagerDuty. From Abunimeh in sales to Drewitz in marketing, the PagerDuty team puts customers first &amp;mdash; and they&amp;rsquo;re empowered to do so. Walls noted that she recently took advantage of a training budget offering by taking an online course in customer experience, which she said gave her a different perspective on working with customers.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;HackWeek is a great way for folks to meet and work with other teams they might not have regular interaction with, learn more about interesting corners of PagerDuty and show off their creativity,&amp;rdquo; Walls said. &amp;ldquo;Some of the HackWeek projects make their way out to customers, others serve as prototypes for future work and some are just fun.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Working in this client-centric, ever-changing environment requires flexibility and patience, Walls said. &amp;ldquo;Maybe the market changes or customer requirements change, and sometimes things we thought we were going to be working on don&amp;rsquo;t get prioritized,&amp;rdquo; she explained. &amp;ldquo;Work that will be impactful for users is still going to get done, but maybe it&amp;rsquo;s not what you were expecting! Folks who are willing to embrace change will have more success [as an employee] here.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For Drewitz, an understanding of how the company&amp;rsquo;s features and tools work together to build an enterprise-level ecosystem of support for customers aids in team members&amp;rsquo; adaptability.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The event was crafted to offer space for networking and strategic conversations about how Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) support PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s business objectives around global engagement, fostering belonging, and for reflection on both personal and professional journeys, reaffirming our commitment to supporting PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s underrepresented communities.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Arraychella was more than a conference, it was a celebration of our shared strength, resilience, and vision. &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Highlights from the conference&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;Arraychella focused on topics that resonate deeply with our ERG community, fostering interactive discussions that aligned with our business outcomes and company values. Key sessions included &amp;ldquo;Managing Up,&amp;rdquo; &amp;ldquo;V2MOM&amp;rdquo;, &amp;ldquo;Global Inclusion &amp;amp; Belonging,&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;Holistic Wellness,&amp;rdquo; equipping attendees with strategies to enhance their impact and engagement in their roles.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Another highly anticipated session was a candid Q&amp;amp;A with members of our executive team. Leaders shared insights on navigating career challenges, fostering inclusive teams, and leveraging their influence to advocate for broader organizational change. This open exchange created a platform for authentic dialogue, strengthening trust and transparency across the company.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Participants also engaged in hands-on workshops on self-advocacy, career development, and aligning personal contributions with organizational goals, reinforcing our belief that developing diverse talent is critical to reaching business imperatives around innovation, engagement, and retention. Attendee feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 90.9% expressing that they felt &amp;ldquo;more prepared&amp;rdquo; to take on new challenges.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To reinforce our themes of connection to community, holistic wellness, and individuals driving impact, we wrapped the conference by volunteering to beautify an urban greenspace in Atlanta with the Wylde Center, a local environmental nonprofit, and provided the organization with a PagerDuty.org Community Grant to further support their mission with funding.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Success metrics and impact&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;The turnout and engagement exceeded expectations. With a 105.7% increase in attendance over last year, our survey results showed high satisfaction scores, with 86.4% of attendees reporting that they felt more connected to PagerDuty&amp;rsquo;s mission and their career growth. Post-event data also indicated a positive influence on attendees&amp;rsquo; sense of belonging, with a measurable increase in retention intent among participants.&lt;/p&gt;
