PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on PagerDuty AIOps features that help our customers separate signal from noise across billions of data points and provide AI-based root cause analysis. You will join the team responsible for some of our most advanced AIOps features that help reduce noise and responder fatigue by intelligently grouping alerts and pausing transient alerts, surfacing cross-service incidents occurring simultaneously to accelerate triage, and identifying relevant historical information to drive faster incident resolution. This is an exciting opportunity to have high visibility, tackle interesting technical challenges, and collaborate with our Machine Learning and Data Science teams. The ideal candidate has strong experience working with Elixir or other backend languages such as Python, Java, or Ruby, as well as a strong understanding of AI/ML concepts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing, coding, testing and shipping APIs, backend Elixir applications and microservices that ensure we deliver secure, highly reliable, and scalable solutions to our customers
  • Collaborating with Product Management to refine features and plan for their execution
  • Own and operate what we build, ensuring long term service health
  • Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to build solutions that solve customer problems, including crossing team or repository ownership boundaries where needed to get the job done
  • Participating in our team’s on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of development experience, designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, and performance requirements
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Elixir, Python, Java, Ruby, etc.
  • Experience with tools that ensure your high quality work makes a smooth, automated, repeatable transition from your machine to our staging and production environments
  • Experience participating in an on-call rotation and triaging/addressing production issues as they arise
  • Experience working with Product teams, ensuring and driving a timely delivery

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent Elixir experience is preferred
  • Experience working on ML-based solutions
  • Experience working with data scientists and ML experts
  • Experience with the AWS cloud ecosystem
  • Experience working on customer-facing and web-based Software-as-a-Service (Saas) systems

The base salary range for this position is 152,000 - 248,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
