Join us. At PagerDuty, you'll tackle complex problems, collaborate with kind and ambitious people, and help build a more equitable world—all in a flexible, award-winning workplace.

PagerDuty is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our customer-focused team. We seek engineers passionate about backend work who can also support front-end projects.

You’ll join a team dedicated to solving complex challenges for major clients, building resilient systems that power our products—and our own operations.

The Pricing/Monetization team drives PagerDuty’s next growth phase, developing innovative pricing and monetization solutions. We need technical leaders who excel at cross-functional collaboration and initiative.

In this role, you’ll deliver impactful software, communicate across disciplines, and help move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • From day one, you’ll be designing, coding, testing, and shipping microservices and user interfaces that power our new pricing platforms—delivering secure, highly reliable, and scalable solutions to our customers.
  • You are comfortable working across both backend and frontend systems.
  • Since we own and operate what we build, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers across teams.
  • You will be working on systems that manage millions of dollars of PagerDuty revenue, building new features to improve our pricing, checkout, licensing, and billing systems.
  • With 15,000+ global customers and growing, you’ll be solving really interesting technical challenges while helping to scale our product to keep up with demand.
  • You will be participating in your team’s on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.
  • You will be a key communicator and collaborator, working cross-functionally with product, design, finance, and other teams to ensure our pricing platforms meet business and customer needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of development experience overall.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.
  • Our tech stack for this team includes Ruby on Rails, Phoenix/Elixir, and React, but if you are proficient with another tech stack and willing to learn/flex to our stack, please apply!
  • Development experience working on customer-facing, web-based systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, building, and operating large systems with scalability, availability, and performance requirements.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with iterative development and fast feedback.
  • Experience with tools that ensure your high-quality work makes a smooth, automated, repeatable transition from your machine to our staging and production environments.
  • Experience working in a global distributed environment.

This role is expected to come into our Lisbon office 1 day/month so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!
